International Summer School 2012

on Social Network Analysis

 

On June, 22-28 first International Summer School on Social Network Analysis (SNA), organized by the Laboratory "Sociology of Education and Science" (SESL) was held in St. Petersburg.

The school was attended by 25 students and young scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Hungary, USA, Colombia and Mexico. All lectures and practical courses were in English. Classes were organized in an intensive mode, each day was divided into four sections. Working language – English. 

The goal of the course was to demonstrate how research problems in social sciences can be solved with SNA methods. Connections between theory and application was be illustrated with examples from sociology of youth and education, sociology of health, organizational studies. The course was focus on problem solving rather than on specific methods and techniques.
